Ishigaki

Ishigaki is one of Okinawa’s outer islands, roughly 2,000 kilometers from Tokyo, with tropical coastlines, healthy coral reefs, and mountainous terrain.

Where to go

Yonehara Beach is the island’s most popular spot for snorkeling, while Fusaki Beach is known for its sunsets and Sukuji Beach for calm, family-friendly water. Divers head to Kabira Bay in summer, when manta rays gather in large numbers. Mount Omoto and Mount Nosoko offer hiking with panoramic island views.

Good to know

Ishigaki is reached by direct flight from Naha or Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, and a rental car is generally the most practical way to get around once there.
